Today, I watched my first bowl games of the season… I’d been interested in a couple previously (Baylor, Texas Tech), but both started at something like 9 p.m., which is far too late for me. So it was nice that Rice (vs. Air Force) and Texas (vs. Oregon State) both played earlier games today. So[...]

Yesterday, my “sick” was mostly stomach-centric, with a little runny nose. Today, it was all in my head/neck — sore throat, cough, runny nose. Last time I was sick was almost exactly a year ago, just before and during Rebecca’s baptism.

I’ve updated my previous entry to add photos of the garage shelf rails… 101°F today… Rebecca played independently today for the first time in a week — we’d been having issues with that … She also watched some football with me in the afternoon; really enjoyed it. She can signal “touchdown” and gets excited no[...]

Being with Rebecca was like a dream. She was in a good mood the entire day, napped late (she wasn’t going to nap, but fell asleep as soon as I rocked her), talked more, played hard, communicated… Watched Super Bowl XLVI.

After a couple of cold and rainy weeks, it finally dried up around Christmas and began warming up over the past few days. During my aunts’ recent visit, we saw 60s in the afternoons and we’ve hit 70°F a couple of times since then. Rebecca made great strides in her eating on the 28th and[...]

Yesterday, Rebecca watched her first Super Bowl, or at least the second half. She slept through the first half. When she was awake, she enjoyed the moving flashing colors on the screen, and she watched me closely as I reacted to the game. Sorry to say, our Steelers didn’t perform well. My prediction was Steelers[...]

Random notes from the past few days: I replaced two tires on my car (both rear tires have been in place since we purchased the Mercury in 2007). One had developed a slow leak, and the tread was wearing thin on both of them. My wife is still trying to get back into the habit[...]

As usual with big football games, my wife and I made predictions for the final score prior to the kickoff of the BCS National Championship. Hers: Auburn 37, Oregon 23 Mine: Auburn 27, Oregon 21 Actual: Auburn 22, Oregon 19 So, in a rare occurrence, my prediction was closer. :-)

Tonight, we saw our first-ever high school football game in Killeen, Texas. For me, it’s been 20 years since I saw a high school game in Texas; my last one was at Smithson Valley High School, in the fall of my senior year. For my wife, it was her first experience of any kind with[...]
