Rebecca is 2.5 years old today. The last couple of days we were out of town — visiting my family in Oklahoma. I plan to write more about that tomorrow. Overall, we had a great time, and this was by far our best road trip with Rebecca so far. The minivan performed well — this[...]
Heather and the boys followed us to Ikea in Round Rock this morning — their first time in such a store. Heather found a few things she needed for her house, while MF and I bought items as well. (On the way there, we were stuck in traffic for 30 minutes; it turned out that[...]
I took the van out & filled up with gas (17.7 mpg on our second tank, almost all of it city driving, and including the one-hour drive through the safari yesterday at about 2 miles per hour), then washed it — a pathetic attempt to remove cow & camel slobber from the day before. By[...]
Visited Topsey Exotic Ranch & Drive Thru Safari with Heather & the boys. We saw zebras, buffalo, a camel, goats, elk, and a few others. In the petting zoo, Rebecca bravely walked among the goats and sheep, though she occasionally hid behind my legs when a larger animal approached her. She hand-fed several goats. She[...]
Mowed/edged. Vacuumed. Laundry. Rebecca didn’t take a nap today — fourth time in her life if my count is correct. And she was fine until about 5:30 p.m., when we made a grocery run. She fell asleep just as we got back home. I couldn’t wake her up. MF finally woke her up after about[...]
We left the house at 8:45 a.m. or so, planning to visit my sister and her family before they headed back toward Arkansas — they’d been staying in a cabin at BLORA (Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area). I thought it was about half an hour away; it was more like 50 minutes. Still, we had[...]
We spent most of the day with my sister Shari and her family. (They’d arrived late the night before and stayed in a cabin in a nearby recreation area.) Today, we went to Purser Park in the morning, where Rebecca played with her cousins, we all threw Frisbees, some of us explored the culverts under[...]
Much like 2011 (Year in Review: 2011), the year 2012 saw my wife and I focusing mostly on our house/property and on our daughter Rebecca, though perhaps not as exclusively this time. For one thing, we announced in December that my wife is pregnant again, with a birth date scheduled for June 23 or so.[...]
In a heavy fog, I dropped off my wife’s brother at the airport this morning. The girls went grocery shopping next. Then lunch — Rebecca’s a regular sandwich eater now. Afternoon: shopping at Kohl’s. And a little house cleaning got mixed in between all those activities. WEATHER: about 10 degrees warmer than average for this[...]
