Took our family Christmas portrait today. That took about 30 minutes of Rebecca-wrangling. You’d think after I’ve taken 10,000 (estimated) photos of her, she would be okay with having her photo taken. If we got one usable picture today, I’ll be happy.

After setting a heat record yesterday, we dipped below average today, between 40 and 53°F most of the day, dipping into the 30s by bedtime. Every time we start to worry that Rebecca is behind in her development (I assume most parents are concerned about this from time to time), I just check several “toddler milestone” charts from reputable organizations. She’s fine. As with most children, she’s ahead on some things, behind on others, and right on target with some.[...]

Much like last Christmas (blog entry), we celebrated this year’s biggest holiday on Dec. 24. Unlike last Christmas, my wife worked through the holiday (five days straight, Dec. 23-27). She still managed to cook a tasty evening meal that included: chicken, dressing, sweet potatoes, pineapple upside down cake, cookies, rolls, herb-roasted potatoes, rice-and-beans, apple cider,[...]
