I’ve tried to keep friends and family updated about my wife’s job situation via Facebook, but those posts tend to get lost in the shuffle, now buried under hundreds of other posts. Here is the latest.
The first two photos I made of our Silver Surfer (Copyright © 2007 by Wil C. Fry.) Today, I said my final farewell to our 2000 Mercury Sable LS, which I’ve owned longer than any other car. On one hand, I think it’s strange to develop an emotional attachment to a piece of technology —[…]
A whole week. (Selections adapted from private journal file.)
Three days in one entry: Neon repair, debit card problem, end of beginner dance, playdate
Three days in one entry, kind of a mish-mash * RL can now lift BW; wraps her arms around him and leans backward. Once, she almost put him on the sofa. * While playing basketball in the driveway, RL threw the ball as hard as she could and it hit me in the groin. She[…]
Four days in one entry: fevers galore, rain, movies, teething
Three days in one entry: Safari Champ, movies, spark plugs (Neon), fever
Three days in one entry: picnic, Neon, gift card, bicycle shorts, debit card activation, washing cars, bluebonnet time,
Four days in one entry: dentist, car trouble, new tree, watering, Easter egg hunt, the trouble with Benjamin, The Normal Heart
Four days in one entry: new tire, phonetic alphabet, thoughts on parenthood, conversations with a four-year-old about God, spelling a few words
Top Story: I took the Mercury’s tire into Walmart this morning; RLF came with me. They said they wouldn’t fix the slow leak because there was some cracking on the rubber on the inside of the tire, and recommended that I take it to a “Mom & Pop tire shop” that didn’t have such a[…]

* Took apart the Pack-N-Play (scavenged several pounds of metal from it for recycling) since BWF no longer uses it and has never slept in it that I can remember. It’s only purpose the last several weeks was blocking the doorway to the kitchen so he couldn’t get in there. The kids enjoyed watching me[…]
Visited the library again this morning; both MF and RLF were finished with their books (I’m still working through one of mine). Then groceries after that. Afternoon: the girls went to Burlington Coat Factory (Rebecca: “Mon, Daddy! We go mah!” [C’mon, Daddy. We’re going to the mall!])
MF had a doctor’s appointment this morning at 8 a.m. — she’s gained 12 pounds in 22 weeks of pregnancy. At 10 a.m., I took the Kia to the Kia dealership in Killeen; learned it’s still under manufacturer’s warranty for another year. They fixed the DC power outlet (it had blown a fuse because someone[…]
Today, we bought a car, a 2008 Kia Sedona LX. As we always have before, we paid for it outright and don’t owe anything on it. Some photos: (Copyright © 2013 by Wil C. Fry. All rights reserved.)
WEATHER: After setting a record high two days ago, we set a record low today, at 24°F, four degrees colder than the previous record, set in 2008.
Finally repaying my brother for his visit to us a few months ago, we drove to Arlington today and spent the afternoon there.
Eight Hours Actually, it was nine hours, according to my wife, but that didn’t fit as well in my title. Yes, Rebecca slept through the night again, this time for a record nine hours (eight, if you count the spit-up at 12:20 a.m.) She went to sleep at about 11:22 p.m. last night, and didn’t[…]
I know our Christmas won’t be the worst in the history of the world, but it might just be the worst for *us*. The big news first: When we got home from our vacation in Oklahoma, we noticed that my car was gone. Stolen. This was about 5:15 p.m. on Monday. We’d left it parked[…]
