Morning: mailed a few Xmas presents. Afternoon: saw “Killing Them Softly” (big mistake; I could have wandered around the parking lot for two hours and had the same entertainment value). MF & RLF went to Purser Family Park in Harker Heights, noticed new Chevron was open. (Copyright © 2012 by Wil C. Fry. All rights[...]

Below is my first video with the new Canon 60D camera. Video isn’t a feature I was looking for in a DSLR, but since it’s there I figured I would try it. Without reading the manual, I couldn’t figure out how to start a video… Even in video mode, pressing the shutter just recorded still[...]

(First impressions of Canon 60D) As is our custom, my wife and I got token gifts for each other during actual Christmas, and bought ourselves very nice things in February when we file for our income tax refund. My gift came today — a Canon EOS 60D. (3 images after the jump)

My wife said to order the camera now, instead of waiting for the IRS check to arrive. (We should be able to absorb most of the cost from our normal budget anyway.) I ordered it Wednesday afternoon (Amazon); it shipped a few minutes after midnight (early Friday morning) — 33 hours after my order was[...]

Our birthday weekend is half-over. Yesterday, we went to nearby Harker Heights to visit Barnes & Nobles, where my wife and I each purchased a birthday book for ourselves. She got Dan Brown’s newest novel, and I picked up a biography of Amelia Earhart, the famous female flier. We also went to Bed, Bath and[...]

Yes, folks, Seminole won their game, outlasting neighboring Tecumseh. They started with a bang… Senior running back John Beavers ran the opening kickoff back 80 yards, but the team couldn’t capitalize, so Tecumseh scored first. In fact, at halftime, Seminole was down, 7-6. But, by the end of the third quarter, it was tied, 13-13.[...]

The National Guard unit from Seminole was activated today, as Gov. Brad Henry mobilized 15,000 of the state’s brightest and best to assist with the disaster in Louisiana. The local Guardsmen will be leaving some time in the morning… They don’t actually get their orders until tonight. Also, the rear-view mirror in my car just[...]
