Much like 2011 (Year in Review: 2011), the year 2012 saw my wife and I focusing mostly on our house/property and on our daughter Rebecca, though perhaps not as exclusively this time. For one thing, we announced in December that my wife is pregnant again, with a birth date scheduled for June 23 or so.[…]
Wet and misty all day (0.01 inches), between 41 and 53°F. I moved the sofa and loveseat back-to-back and hung a comforter across the top so Rebecca could have a “fort”. I thought she’d immediately go underneath. Instead, she climbed on TOP of it almost as soon as I’d set it up. Fortunately, the friction[…]
Rebecca spent a lot of time today learning to obey — for some reason, she’d chucked aside most of the rule book and was establishing a full-blown rebellion. Daddy handled the brunt of that, though Mommy came in with reinforcements after work. She did watch Ghostbusters twice today, at her request. In the evening, we[…]
Today, I watched my first bowl games of the season… I’d been interested in a couple previously (Baylor, Texas Tech), but both started at something like 9 p.m., which is far too late for me. So it was nice that Rice (vs. Air Force) and Texas (vs. Oregon State) both played earlier games today. So[…]
For days, Rebecca has been saying “duheemee” or “daheemee”. Today, we finally discovered that means “come see me”. Taken Dec. 26, with Mommy’s hair dryer (Copyright © 2012 by Wil C. Fry. Taken Christmas Eve (Copyright © 2012 by Wil C. Fry. All rights reserved.) MF & RLF grocery shopped in the morning; other than that, it was a pretty lazy day. RLF ate meatloaf for supper. WEATHER: 26-46°F, mostly cloudy, some mist, wind: 3-10 mph
It was 23°F this morning, breaking the previous record low by a degree. Our high for the day was 37°F.

RLF & I grocery shopped in the morning. All three of us went to the playground in the afternoon; it was crowded, but RLF managed to find room to play, reuniting with a friend she’d met at the swimming pool this summer.
Three days left till Christmas. Well, technically just two now. We received what we believe is our final TXU (electric) bill, for just seven days of service. And they’ve already called my wife, asking for us to reconnect with them. And they sent an email, promising a gift of $250 if we switch back, though[…]
It was so cold this morning that we just stayed in. RLF played with her dolls and rocked on her rocking horse. She had half a cheeseburger for lunch. In the afternoon, she and MF went to the neighborhood playground, but RLF wouldn’t play.
I spent the bulk of the day switching my website over from GoDaddy servers to Bluehost servers — it shouldn’t affect how you access the site, but hopefully will mean faster load times and less site outages. MF and RLF were very good about leaving me alone to concentrate on that task. RLF played with[…]
This is a test entry, so I’ll know when my website has switched to BlueHost (from GoDaddy). UPDATE: As far as I can tell, this blog is now hosted on my new webhost, having been imported from the old one successfully. So far, the new host is easier to use, and the blog loads much[…]
Went to Cameron Park Zoo in Waco — our fourth trip I think. This time we went in the morning. Rebecca had a great time; she remembered some things. I was surprised that she knew what an “owl” was — she must’ve learned it from TV. We ate at the in-park restaurant (“Plaza Cafe”), which[…]
Yesterday it was TXU, but before I’d gone to bed it was my web host giving me problems. I apologize on their behalf to any of you who had trouble accessing either of my blogs or my website yesterday evening, last night, or most of today. I have only been able to access it intermittently[…]
TXU TROUBLES Today, we signed up with a different REP (retail electric provider) after being unable to resolve an issue with our current company, TXU. I guess that’s one decent thing about living in Texas — you get to choose that company (unlike in many states, where monopolies are allowed to provide electricity). It all[…]
Today was Sheet Day (shortened over the years to “Sunday”, presumably because sheets used to dry in the sun*). Rebecca loves Sheet Day, mainly because she loves to play in sheets that aren’t attached to beds. They make great tents, robes, cloaks, capes, ghost costumes, and really cool flappy things — if Daddy’s trying to[…]
(Copyright © 2012 by Wil C. Fry. All rights reserved.) Rebecca can drink out of a regular cup now
I may not have mentioned it earlier, but we discovered on Oct. 25 that my wife is pregnant again. Not long after, a doctor confirmed it. When I told Rebecca that a baby was growing in Mommy’s tummy, she immediately ran over, pulled up Mommy’s shirt and kissed her belly. Now she will talk to[…]
