Our 78°F high today broke another record, this one from the late ’90s. Tomorrow, we’re forecast to break the record by 12 degrees. And so on. Rebecca and I went grocery shopping this morning; played at our playground. She was well-behaved today, and ate decently. In the evening, I bought a few pieces of 1/2″[…]

Took our family Christmas portrait today. That took about 30 minutes of Rebecca-wrangling. You’d think after I’ve taken 10,000 (estimated) photos of her, she would be okay with having her photo taken. If we got one usable picture today, I’ll be happy.

Shopped a bit at Target in the morning; among many other items, we bought a tiny pack of Tic Tacs, at Rebecca’s request. Rebecca asked for McDonald’s for lunch, so we went there. She had two nuggets, apple juice, and some apple slices. In the afternoon, she remember the Tic Tacs, and spent much of[…]

After setting a heat record yesterday, we dipped below average today, between 40 and 53°F most of the day, dipping into the 30s by bedtime. Today, we set up the Christmas tree, finished exterior Christmas lights, and hung stockings. Rebecca was helpful and well-behaved during all of this. Her sentences are getting more frequent, and[…]

Weather: The record high for this day was 80°F, set in 1997 (1996 saw the record low). We broke the record high at noon today and kept on going. It was 85°F by 1:30 p.m. and 88°F by 3 p.m.

It was 37°F when I woke up, and windy, but no records today. (Both the record high and the record low for this day have been set in the past nine years.) Just one of the many newspapers I’d saved for years. I’m sending them to the recycling center.

My wife’s gotten into a book-reading kick lately. In one day, she read the entire Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’s trilogy (five books). In another day, she read Tolstoy’s War and Peace. On a different day, she read the first three books of the John Carter of Mars series. Tomorrow, she’s going to tackle Dr.[…]

I returned the baby gate to the office doorway after a two-week experiment of having it removed. Rebecca simply couldn’t resist messing with the computer, the camera gear, the books, and other non-toddler-safe items in the office. I finally decided it was pointless to keep tempting her and then having to call her on it.[…]

Today, we hit 85°F, or 84°F, depending on which weather service you look at. That either ties or breaks the all-time high for this day, which was set 16 years ago.

Temperature: 52-75°F, slightly warmer than average for this time of year, beautiful. Rebecca played independently very well today, but I think her favorite thing we did all day was play with the comforter on her bed while the sheets were in the wash. I make kind of a tent with it, draping it over my[…]

I’d been saving the internal DVD drive and hard drive from my recently deceased computer, considering installing them into the tower of my new computer as extra hardware. Both use IDE connections. Then I realized you can buy empty enclosures for both and use them as external drives. Then I realized I still have an[…]

Mid-30s in the morning, 60s in afternoon. Rebecca was a little sick, growing more so through the day (runny nose, coughing, sneezing). Bought sweaters for Mommy in afternoon. Stayed indoors most of the day.
