We didn’t get a costume for Rebecca this year; my wife and I agreed we’d wait until she could help choose one. We may do it next year. But Rebecca helped us hand out candy and greet Trick-or-Treaters from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The weather was perfect. We just sat/stood on the front stoop and[…]
Each of these three days was a little warmer than the last, until we broke 80°F on Tuesday (30th); we went to our community playground in the afternoon on each day. Nightfall is now early enough that we don’t go out after supper any more. Rebecca seems to have taken this in stride.
Cooler and warmer than yesterday. Cooler low: mid-40s. Warmer high: mid-60s. The TV has given us a freeze warning for tonight, but the NWS says our expected low is 41°F.
Happy birthday, Sis! (You know who you are.) Wow, 35. That just reminds me that I’m 40. :-) Woke up from another odd dream this morning. In the dream, I’d been arguing with my wife about closing the closet window. I wanted to leave it open all night so the closet wouldn’t get stuffy. She[…]
Hit 90°F today. Cool front at 5:30 p.m. Low 60s by bed time. Rebecca’s current favorite book is “Black, White and Tan”, which was a gift from my Aunt Norma Gillespie. We read it to her at least 30 times today.
Marline took a pregnancy test this morning. Positive. Estimated due date: late June, early July of 2013. If it’s a boy, we’re agreed on: Benjamin Wesley Fry If it’s a girl, we’re agreed on Felicia, but not on a middle name yet… Update, Dec. 26, 2012 Agreed on Felicia Cosette Fry if it’s a girl.[…]
Trip to Waco Zoo in the afternoon. As happens often on these outings, we came across a photography class taking pictures. They seemed to be going at the same pace as us so we were with them at many exhibits. One girl in the class was deaf and saw Rebecca signing “more” for more grapes.[…]
Cooler today, just 84°F for the high. RLF played at our playground in the morning and in Harker Heights in the afternoon. Worked on feeding herself with a spoon. I saw a movie (“End of Watch”) in the afternoon.
90°F again. Is it even legal to be that warm this late in the year? But seriously, it actually feels very nice to be in the 80s most of the day and low 70s at night. In the morning, Rebecca put all her dolls in her bed, up against the pillow, with the comforter covering[…]
91°F today, and windy. Playground in the morning. Had a few unexplained crying jags during the day. One that was explained was at lunch, when I asked her if she wanted yogurt and she said “no”. Then she’d cry when I didn’t give it to her. We did this for 15 minutes until I asked[…]
RLF ate an Eggo today. An entire one.
As I mentioned yesterday, I finished formatting and uploading photos from my Oklahoma trip. If you’re signed in to Flickr and I’ve added you as friends/family, you’ve likely already seen them. If not, you can view them by clicking this Guest Pass link (or view the slideshow). In case you missed it, read my entry[…]
Cool morning, warm afternoon. Finished uploading photos from our trip to Oklahoma. Rebecca fed herself at dinner with a spoon — first time she ate an entire meal with a utensil. She was pretty proud of herself.
In the morning, Rebecca and my wife went to the grocery store. I mowed the back yard and took my car out to get gas and a wash. After lunch, we head to Sweet Berry Farm.
I don’t record many videos, even though my Canon 60D records high-definition video with decent sound. But when I do record them, I generally upload them to my YouTube account. They’re all listed on my website’s Video page. This blog entry is just a note to let you know I’ve caught up; all my recent[…]
We reached 95°F today, the hottest it’s been in a couple of weeks. But it was brief and back down to 80 by bed time. While my wife was at the dentist early, Rebecca and I played at the playground, threw out a little more rye seed, and fiddled around the house. We stayed in[…]
Today, Rebecca went to the doctor, measuring 2′ 9.5″ tall and 24.2 lbs. — the exact measurements we’d gotten at home a few days earlier. She also got a flu shot and only squealed for a second. From the screaming we heard in nearby rooms, I assume other children aren’t as tough as she is.
Rebecca was better about waving at our neighbors today. And she played with our across-the-street neighbors (whom we’ve nicknamed “the Ks”) for a little while, including bouncing a ball with the 7-year-old boy and riding the girl’s car, while I talked to the parents. In the evening, she received her last two birthday presents. I[…]
Rebecca seemed happy to be back home today; she played with her toys — including her new ones from family and ate very well. She put herself down for a nap and slept on the sofa for two hours while I watched football. In the evening, we gave her a couple more presents we’d been[…]
