It was cloudy and cool (80s) most of the day, never getting close to the 99 that was predicted. I think we scraped 94 in the late afternoon (6 p.m.) Earlier in the afternoon, we went swimming. Had the pool to ourselves for the first time this year. Probably the only time. Tomorrow’s the last[…]

Back yard pool again this afternoon. I got video; will post it later. More conversations with neighbors in the evening; across-the-street-guy got home from his deployment today; his son was overjoyed. Rebecca tried to ride their girl’s tricycle, which made the girl cry. And Rebecca cried when I took her off it. Tomorrow, I plan[…]

Took Rebecca to the pool today (while the wife was still at work). We had fun. She really loves it, and would stay down there all day if it was possible.

Rebecca and I bought more paving stones today; we’re going to pull out my “stepping stone” attempt and just make a path. I probably won’t try it until Tuesday, my wife’s next day off work.

Thanks to all of you who’ve taken the time to view my images on Flickr over the years. I’ve always kept the majority of my images completely public there, so no one has to create an account to view them. I’m changing that a little now.

93°F. Rebecca played in her inflatable pool in back yard first time. Really loved it. I saw The Avengers in the afternoon, only 2nd movie I’ve seen in theater since RLF’s birth. Enjoyed it. (Saw non-3D version.) Put paving stones from driveway to exterior faucet; took about 90 minutes. Came up 2 short; will finish[…]

92°F on May 21. 93°F on May 22. Climbing toward a predicted 97 on Thursday. Woohoo. Monday (21st), Rebecca helped me empty the dishwasher. I stood at the silverware drawer and she handed me one item at a time from the tray. By the time I’d turned and put one item in the drawer and[…]

Saturday night & Sunday night, Rebecca slept through the night each time. Sunday night, my wife had eight hours of sleep for the first time since her second trimester. Have we turned a corner? Hopefully. Rebecca ate pasta with us one evening and has had slices of toast each day for three days now.

(Copyright © 2012 by Marline Fry. All rights reserved.) My parents visited us May 8-10, which I’ll use as my excuse for not updating this blog the last few days. It was a wonderful visit, the first time my parents have seen Rebecca since October 2011 when we went to their home in Oklahoma, and[…]

Today, I installed the cabinet hardware (handles) in our master bathroom (we’d bought them at Ikea a couple of weeks ago). It was 94°F today, making another four days in a row over 90.

Mowed & edged the yard this morning. It’s the best the back yard has ever looked. While shopping at Target, Rebecca picked out a $2 plastic sea-plane bath toy, which I mention here for my Dad’s sake. She played with it during her entire bath tonight, mostly dunking it underwater and then sloshing upward so[…]

Early wake-up call today; Rebecca bounded out of bed at 6 a.m., happy as a clam. But she made it less than three hours before needing a nap. Fortunately, that was about the time my wife left for her hair appointment.
