Yesterday, I uploaded three videos from the past few weeks to my YouTube account.
Yesterday, the swimming pool for our neighborhood officially opened, so we walked over there for a visit. Only residents (and one guest each) are allowed in. There’s an electronic gate that’s opened with a magnetic keycard, issued only to residents in good standing with the HOA (homeowner association).
Rebecca has been “creeping” (which I call “scooting”) for two months now, and a few times has crossed an entire room this way. But until a few days ago, she just wouldn’t crawl. She clearly wanted to, and would get up on all fours, but then would fall to one side or the other. Within[…]
Yesterday it was 96°F here in Killeen, and today we saw 99°F. This morning, the humidity was over 80%, but now it’s dropped down to 17%, so the heat is bearable.
We finally got some decent rain. The day we were driving back from Oklahoma (May 12), it rained here — about five inches. A few days later, we got a couple more inches, and then another inch or so this Monday. It was really what our back yard needed.
In roughly two weeks, my wife and I will celebrate the fifth anniversary of our wedding. It’s traditionally the “wood” anniversary, so I’ve considered buying some lumber for my wife and letting her build something with it. Ha. The “new tradition” is silverware, which we now have plenty of.
It’s now been a week since we returned home from our four-day Oklahoma trip (blog entry, photos). Yes, it took me that long to cull, format, and upload my images, and prepare my blog entry on the subject. When we first arrived home, Rebecca seemed overjoyed. She had missed our carpet (my parents have only[…]
Our road trip to Oklahoma (May 9-12) was a great success by almost all measurements. On Saturday, May 7, I made sure the lawn was mowed. My wife worked 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. that day. On Sunday, May 8, while I watered the lawn, we did all our laundry and started packing. We left[…]
Don’t worry; we’re still here. It’s taking me a while, during Rebecca’s naps mostly, to format my trip photos and write the trip blog entry. It might be another two or three days, but I’ll get it posted. :-)
I’ve mentioned a few times previously that we were working up to a long road trip. It’s the reason we took Rebecca to San Marcos in March, and why we’ve been taking her out more and more often, to stores and fast food restaurants. So far, she’s been amazing on all these outings, but she[…]
As many of you know, I was been working my way through old photos, deleting most of the bad stuff and uploading the rest to my Flickr account. (I’ve mentioned it several times in this blog: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008). All of that got put on hold when my wife and I[…]
I meant to post an entry in mid-February, a six-month retrospective about our new house and neighborhood. But it completely slipped my mind. We’ve now been living in this brand new house for 8.5 months, while the neighborhood continues to take shape around us. There are so many ways to evaluate our experience with the[…]
Today, Rebecca’s ears were pierced and 4mm gold studs inserted in each ear lobe, at Claire’s in the Killeen mall. I left this entirely up to my wife’s discretion; I realize there are various schools of thought about piercing a baby’s ears, and I don’t subscribe to any of them. My own ears were pierced[…]
Just some notes on Rebecca’s progress… • After a few weeks of only rolling to the left, Rebecca is again rolling over to the right.
