Baby’s First Power Outage

This morning, we had our first power outage since moving into our new house. When my wife and I lived in Seminole (Oklahoma), we simply grew accustomed to not having electricity once in a while. Every three weeks or so, the electricity would just quit, sometimes for our block, sometimes for half the town, and[…]

Today, Rebecca weighed in at 9 lbs. 1 oz. (4.11 kg), which was only a four-ounce gain over the past week. But she’d had two really large spit-ups during the night (at least an ounce each) before being weighed. She’s still 20.5 inches long. Since last week’s immunization shots, she’s been out-of-sorts, gassy (more than[…]

Today, Rebecca had her two-month checkup at the pediatrician’s office here in Killeen (along with four regular immunizations, three by needle). She weighed in at a Rubenesque 8 pounds and 13 oz. (4.000 kg), though she’s still 20.5 inches long. That’s a 16.5-ounce gain in just 10 days, which is amazing. Of course, Rebecca was[…]

Rebecca woke up about 9 a.m. and fed very well, then returned to sleep almost immediately, in her room, in her crib. Her second feeding was around 12 noon,[…]

Birth Certificate

Thursday, I picked up Rebecca’s birth certificate, driving to Temple for the task. Personally, I think the state could do a little better job with this process, since a birth certificate is required for so much later in life. But as I thought about it, I realized they may already be doing it the best[…]

RSV Shot

Yesterday, Rebecca got her first RSV shot, which she didn’t like at all. But she only cried for about 20 seconds or so, and then nursed until she fell asleep. For the rest of the day, she was out of sorts, either sleeping longer than usual or not long enough, eating too much or not[…]
