The night before Marline arrived, the house was still, and creaking My tired heart, from years of loneliness Felt like screaming or shrieking Everything has been cleaned with care In hopes that she wouldn’t have to clean once she got there. Okay, I’m too tired to write the rest of this poem. It was a[…]
She Gets Here TOMORROW! I remember thinking that the day would never come when I could say that. I remember thinking, “Two and a half months is a LONG time.” And it felt like it lasted forever, even when I wasn’t thinking about it. In the past 75 or so days, I’ve written about 200[…]
Can it really be… ONLY TWO DAYS LEFT UNTIL MARLINE ARRIVES? Yep, it’s only two days until Marline gets here! All her bags are packed, and she’s ready to go. Soon, she’ll be standin’ here outside my door. Wednesday morning, she’ll be waking up to say goodbye to her apartment for the last time. She’ll[…]
My bubble of happiness has been growing every more swollen by the day, though I’m trying to hold it in check. Anyone who’s been a friend to Marline, whether in real life or on the internet, cannot help but grow happier in her presence. Fortunately, I’m the man that she picked, out of the billions[…]
As you may have figured out… ONLY FOUR DAYS LEFT UNTIL MARLINE ARRIVES! Wow. Friday was particularly grueling at work. Not only did I fill the four pages for Friday’s paper, but I (and the rest of the news staff) stayed four or so hours late to fill pages for Sunday’s paper.
Just FIVE Days Left Until Marline Arrives! With just five days left, time is of the essence. I get one more paycheck as a bachelor, and I’ve been advised to spend it all on hookers and drugs. But I won’t. That’s because it’s Marline’s money too. I’m working on a couple of feature stories for[…]
You guessed it! SIX Days Until Marline Arrives!
I was right. Taylor won it. And he should have. Last night, he outsang the girl six ways from Sunday. Anyway, that’s my take on it.
ONE WEEK TIL Marline Arrives!
Only 8 Days Til Marline Arrives! And, as you can see, my StatCounter is about to roll over 10,000 views! Thanks everyone for visiting this page so often.
(We’re in single digits now, baby!) Only 9 Days Til Marline Arrives! I spent much of the day working around the apartment. I went through a ton of dusty books and came up with about 30 to box up for either a yard sale or posting on eBay. And that’s just from downstairs. I have[…]
10 Days Until Marline Arrives! (And only 16 days until the wedding!) Wow. I got a little accomplished today, but not as much as I’d hoped. Don’t worry; there’s still much of the day left. And some of it, I’m going to leave until Marline gets here; it’ll give us something to do, LOL. Seriously,[…]
11 Days Until Marline Arrives! Today was tough, as expected, with 32 pages to fill and only two people in the news room. Fortunately, my boss stayed a little late last night and did several pages. I had eight sports pages to do, and then the front page, which is usually the toughest. The big[…]
12 Days Until Marline Arrives! (And 18 days until marriage…) Thanks to Marline, Cassie, Carol, Kambri, and the others who’ve been reading this site regularly, and commenting. Of course, for the rest of you, I can see that you’ve been here, even if you don’t comment. StatCounter is still showing me how often you come.[…]
Goings-on in my life: I’ve been spending a couple of evenings each week at Little League baseball games, since my nephews Mark and Josh are both playing this season. Mark is in his first year of T-ball, while Josh is playing “coach pitch,” which means the coach pitches to the kids. Work is still work,[…]
Holy crap, Batman! My calendar pages are flipping by more quickly now. 13 Days Until Marline Arrives! EDIT: Official DEEP THOUGHTS for the day: Here’s how I get through long periods of waiting. First, I assume that the end will never come. I mean, I really convince myself that the time just won’t pass. So[…]
(I made it in before midnight my time, so, it’s still…) 14 Days Until Marline Arrives!

Finding out we now have access to LA Times & Wash. Post stories for our newspaper Happiest Moment This Month: 1. Beginning the[…]
15 Days Until Marline Arrives! Thank you to everyone for reading the story so far. Marline and I sure appreciate all the support and comments from everyone. To clarify, we have certainly not experienced, to this point, any incidents or any problems based on our respectives races. I mentioned it because it’s something that we[…]
