◊ B keeps standing
Now that BWF has discovered that he can stand by pulling himself up, he’s not going to quit, which is a little scary at this age. Sure, he’s careful and uses both hands — and seems to have quick reactions to grab something when he’s falling, but I wish a little bit that he’d waited… Sigh.
He’s still not doing full-on hand/knee crawling.
◊ Sibling interaction
Most of the time, the two kids don’t interact — they’re still too far apart in age and ability. RLF plays and BWF watches her is usually the extent of it. But if she ever gets close, he almost always tries to touch her or grab her clothes. Usually she screams and runs away, leaving him dismayed — and it even looks like his feelings are hurt.
But he’s learning tricks. In the image-pair above, he lunged at her leg and put his mouth down to chew on it. As expected, she lowered her head and he was ready to reach up and grab her hair. He eventually knocked her down and they wrestled for a minute.
MF and I are working with her to interact with him more.
◊ Napless again
Today, RLF missed her nap again, but this time it was my fault. BWF had just awakened from a 2-hour-15-minute nap when it was RLF’s nap time. I still had some loud things to do like empty the dishwasher, wash some pots/pans, and finish laundry. Plus I still needed to eat lunch — something that BWF usually cries through. I figured it would be difficult to get her sleep through that, or that it would wake her, so I told her she could skip her nap if she wanted.
She did better without the nap today than yesterday, but still had a few emotional symptoms in the evening.
