◊ Annual Family Portrait & Outtakes

Today, after Thanksgiving Dinner (see separate entry) and after our nearly-6-month-old son took a long and well-needed nap, we took our annual family portrait (see above), for the first time with an actual backdrop and for the first time with three flashes lighting the scene.

For the photographers in my readership, here’s a quick word on the setup:

Camera: Canon EOS60D, sitting on Manfrotto tripod, 5′ high, fired via RC-1 wireless remote

Light 1: LumoPro LP160, camera left, on lightstand, 6′ high, fired via Cactus V4, bounced off ceiling

Light 2: Canon 420EX, camera right, on Sears tripod, 6′ high, fired via Cactus V4, bounced off ceiling

Light 3: ProMaster 5550DX, under camera, on Magic Arm, 1′ high, fired via optical slave module, directed at subjects through 42″ diffuser

(All flashes at full power; camera at 1/200 sec., f/8, and ISO125, manually focused)

Here are some outtakes:

◊ Previous Family Portraits

Following are — in reverse chronological order — some of the photos that include all of us, going all the way back to the first day I met my beautiful soon-to-be wife and eventual mother of my children. These aren’t all the images that include all of us, but a select bunch to show our development as a family.

That was a nice trip down memory lane. So in 8 years I’ve gone through 3 different glasses, but my jewelry stays the same. I need to up my jewelry game. Also you can tell I’m fond of the color red. I can’t believe I actually still own the sweater from the Grand Canyon trip. Oh and you can tell by my eyebrows when I had just been back to NYC (thin vs my natural thick brows).

Thanks for the comment, darling. If you lack in jewelry, that’s my fault. ;-)

  3. Sherry says:

Glad you posted the outtakes — still laughing.
