I know, people from my part of the country think New Yorkers are crazy anyway. But after reading this story on ABC News, I’m starting to agree.
In case my link above doesn’t work, the story is about a man in New York who received a head injury in a construction accident. At the hospital, he refused a rectal exam, but was held down by staffers, sedated, and given one anyway.
What’s crazy is that a State Supreme Court jury heard the case and decided that the hospital had done nothing wrong.
Now, as a journalist, I’m the first to point out that news “stories” don’t always tell the entire story, so there could be some huge piece of information missing here. But on the face of it, I’ll stay out of New York hospitals whenever possible.
